Creamy Garlic Chicken is a rich and flavorful one-pan meal that delivers both comfort and elegance in just 35 minutes. Juicy chicken breasts or thighs are seared until golden and then simmered in a velvety garlic cream sauce made with Parmesan and herbs. It’s the kind of dinner you’ll crave often—simple enough for busy weeknights yet impressive enough for guests. Whether you serve it with mashed potatoes, pasta, rice, or crusty bread, this dish is always a hit.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This creamy garlic chicken stands out for its incredible flavor and simplicity. It combines everyday ingredients like garlic, cream, and Parmesan into a rich, savory sauce that’s full of depth. The one-skillet method means minimal cleanup, and the result is tender chicken coated in a creamy, garlicky finish that feels restaurant-quality. It’s versatile, easy to adapt with vegetables, and perfect for when you want something cozy and satisfying without spending hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs (about 6 oz each)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or unsalted butter

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Season both sides with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Cook the Chicken:
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and fully cooked (165°F internal temp). Remove from the pan and set aside.

Make the Sauce:
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
Deglaze the pan with chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Reduce heat to low. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.

Combine and Serve:
Return chicken to the skillet. Spoon sauce over the top and let simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes and Tips

  • Lighten it up: Use half-and-half or light cream instead of heavy cream for a lower-calorie version.
  • Vegetable add-ins: Stir in spinach, mushrooms, or asparagus for a complete meal.
  • Storage: Leftovers keep well for up to 3 days in the fridge. Reheat gently on the stovetop to avoid curdling the sauce.
